A More Comfortable Approach to Extended EEG Monitoring

Our experienced, credentialed EEG technologists bring hospital-level diagnostic standards into the home. Home-based Long-Term Video EEG (LT VEEG) studies provide comprehensive monitoring in a familiar and supportive environment, allowing patients to undergo extended evaluation without the need for inpatient admission.

At Home LT VEEG Testing

Palmetto Diagnostics is a Medicare-certified Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility (IDTF) providing home-based Long-Term Video EEG (LT VEEG) studies (ambulatory EEG with synchronized video monitoring).

Home-based LT VEEG records brain activity over an extended period of time, allowing physicians to evaluate suspected seizure disorders and other neurological events. Prolonged monitoring increases diagnostic yield by improving the likelihood of capturing clinical events and identifying epileptiform abnormalities that may not appear during a routine EEG.

Unlike a routine EEG, which provides a limited sampling window, home-based LT VEEG captures multiple wake and sleep cycles, offering a more comprehensive assessment of brain activity over time.

How It Works

1. In-Home Setup

At your scheduled appointment time, the Certified EEG technologist will come to your home to begin your Home-Based Long-Term Video EEG (LT VEEG) study. Small electrodes are carefully placed on your scalp to record your brain’s electrical activity, and you will receive clear instructions about what to expect during the recording period.

2. Recording Period

Once the study begins, you may continue most of your normal daily activities at home. The recording takes place over the prescribed number of days, capturing brain activity during both wakefulness and sleep.

Our team remains engaged throughout the study to help ensure the equipment functions properly and the recording remains clear and reliable.

3. Equipment Removal

At the end of the recording period, our team will return to remove the equipment. If a self-disconnect option is provided, we will give you step-by-step guidance to ensure a smooth and comfortable process.

4. Study Review & Physician Report

After the recording is complete, the study is reviewed to ensure technical quality and then provided to your physician for interpretation. Your physician will discuss the results with you once the formal report is finalized.

Benefits of AEEG

After your study is complete, a registered EEG technologist (R.EEGT) reviews the recording, supported by advanced detection tools, before it is sent to your physician for interpretation and formal reporting.
